The German Society of Phlebology supports scietific research by financial means regarding the deficits declared further on.

The maximal support regarding one project is 20.000 Euro.

The support guidelines have to be respected and may be ordered at the sekretary of the Society:

The executive board of the society decides over the support itself and about the amount of support on the base of the opinion of the commission for research promotion.

Guindelines for the research promotion of the German Society of Phlebology

  1. Formal request regarding the guidelines of the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG)
  2. A detailled time- and operation-shedule. The project concept has to include the finishing of the project within 1 to 2 years after the release of the financial promotion.
  3. Plan of the probable costs of the project with differentiation between material and personal costs. Declaration of promotion by other sources regarding the project.
  4. A letter from the director of the clinic or institute declaring, that the project may be realized and finished at his institution within the next two years.
  5. The results of the project have to be read after finishing on the next annual meeting of the German Society of Phlebology and has to be submitted for publication to the journal Phlebologie.
  6. After release of the research promotion there have to be annual written reports about the project to the German Society of Phlebology.
  7. publications regarding the promoted project have to be signed with the remark "gefördert durch die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Phlebologie / promoted by the German Society of Phlebolgy".
  8. objects remain property of the German Society of Phlebology, promotion of personal work is payed by progress of the study.
  9. Summary of the project including target, shedule and financial plan - not more than one page - 20 copies
  10. A statement of the responsible ethic commission has to be submitted, as the project target or plan requests it (>Guidelines of the DFG)

Research deficits regarding phlebology

  1. molecularbiologic investigations regarding the origin of phlebologic diseases (varicosis, chronic venous insufficiency, venous ulcer)
  2. genetics of venous diseases
  3. long-term results of phlebologic therapies
  4. randomized controlled studies regarding compression therapy
  5. reduction of edema and improvement of prognosis by apparative intermittend compression in lymphedema, lipedema and phlebedema
  6. Effectivity especially long-term-results of foam-sclerotherapy, radio-therapy and laser-ablation of varicose veins
  7. special vascular interventions:
    venous bypasses / venous valve-reconstruction and -transplatation / lymph-vessel bypass and -transplantations
  8. the problem of recurrent varicose veins regarding the sapheno-femoral and -popliteal junction after varicose surgery
  9. thrombophilic diathesis
  10. thrombosis of the muscular veins - epidemiology, diagnostics, therapy
  11. venous diseases and occupation - rehabilitation - expert opinions
  12. Conclusions regarding the "Bonner-Venenstudie" in comparison to former studies (e.g.Thüringer- und Münchner-Venenstudie): actual epidemiologic data - sozioeconomic and sociomedical aspects of venous diseases - long term prognostic improvements by phlebologic therapies
  13. venous diseases and sports
  14. interaction of venous diseases with arterial- and lymphatic diseases
